Build Your Network, Especially in The Busy Times
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 23rd edition of Short & Sweet, a weekly newsletter where I provide brief tips for attorneys to build their brand and book of business, on and off of LinkedIn. Read until the end to see my LinkedIn tip of the week.
I know attorneys struggle to fit billable and non-billable work into their day, on top of juggling family time, free time, and sleep.
They think: I’ll get to business development when I slow down.
But they never slow down and then that partnership role goes to someone else. Or their biggest client goes to a competitor. Or they get unceremoniously taken off that big case.
And they never got around to building a book, a network, or an industry reputation.
Unfortunately, this story is all too common across the legal industry – even with in-house counsel. (What happens when you get laid off, but you never looked up from your desk long enough to network because you didn’t need to generate new clients?)
Making sure you have a baseline business development and visibility strategy, even in the busy times (and even if you’re not trying to build a book) is critical.
What if you had a LinkedIn and networking plan specifically directed to your target clients and referral partners, so you know exactly what you should be doing during the busy times and how you are going to fit it into your schedule?
With LinkedIn plans in place:
💫 One of my trademark attorney clients increased her book of business by 10% from the year before.
💫 Another one was able to engage 4 new clients with large trademark portfolios.
💫 Another one was able to reach 100,000 LinkedIn post impressions.
You’re never going to slow down. It’s never going to be a good time, so make now the time and just start building.
Reply to this email or book a call to get started.
Warmest Regards and see you next week,
Jamie
