Want Coaching? Here’s How to Ask Your Firm.
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the fifth edition of Short & Sweet, a weekly newsletter where I provide brief tips for attorneys to build their brand and book of business, on and off of LinkedIn. Read until the end to see my LinkedIn tip of the week.
A stumbling block to receiving business development coaching that I see for some attorneys is getting financial support for this investment.
If you practice at a law firm, your firm may be willing to support these efforts. There may be internal business development people. You may have to wait to catch their attention, but make sure to check out this resource if it's available.
If that resource isn’t available at your firm, or you'd prefer individual support, your firm may be willing to help you with hiring an external coach.
The first step is to ask. Most of the time, firms are willing to fully or partially support these efforts because the investment will pay dividends to them.
Now may be a good time to ask with budgets being made for 2025. Proposals should include the goals you’d like to accomplish with a coach, inclusive of numbers to support the firm’s investment, like increased revenue and billable hours, and/or business development hours.
I work with clients for free to prepare proposals to get coaching paid for.
With these resources available, there's no reason to wait to start building a business development plan that will yield more clients, a wider network, and greater visibility.
Warmest regards and see you next Thursday,
Jamie
LinkedIn Tip of The Week:
Commenting on other people’s posts on LinkedIn not only boosts their posts in the feed, which is helpful to them, but it also serves to increase your visibility on the platform and demonstrate your expertise. The algorithm also takes note of these efforts to boost your content when posted. Aspire to comment substantively on three posts each day to spread goodwill and grow your reach
P.S. I can help you to build the plan above with the following programs:
1:1 coaching to create a sustainable business development plan aligned with your goals, strengths, target audience, and schedule.
1:1 LinkedIn coaching and training that leverages LinkedIn to grow your visibility and practice without sacrificing billable hours.
