Grab the Lowest Hanging Fruit
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the third edition of Short & Sweet, a dynamic weekly newsletter where I provide brief tips for attorneys to build their brand and book of business, on and off of LinkedIn. Read until the end to see my LinkedIn tip of the week.
If you're wondering where to start with business development, start with the lowest hanging fruit:
Provide dependable, quality legal services.
Be responsive to clients and potential clients.
Get curious about your clients’ businesses.
Nurture existing clients - visit their offices, invite them to events, send them updates, remember their kids’ names.
Treat referral partners like gold - send thank you notes to your referral partners, invite them to events, refer back to them.
Be friendly to opposing counsel.
Get to know the members of your organizations.
Foster relationships with work colleagues - ask them to lunch, have regular calls, ask how you can help.
These small efforts compound over time to create goodwill in the industry, lead to opportunities that increase your visibility, and provide a consistent funnel of work.
Having trouble checking all these items off? I work with my clients to make sure their systems and schedule allow them to consistently hit these marks.
Warmest regards and see you next Thursday,
Jamie
