How to Build An Efficient and Effective Business Development Plan

Hi Friends,

Welcome to the first edition of my dynamic weekly newsletter, Short & Sweet, where I provide brief tips for attorneys to build their brand and book of business, on and off of LinkedIn. If you would prefer to read this email online, you can do so here. Read until the end to see my LinkedIn tip of the week.

Attorneys, I know you’re buried in client work, meeting billable hours and managing the firm, and you’re struggling to build a book of business in between. As a result, business development goes last on your list.

On top of that, you may not know where to start, your strategy may feel haphazard, or your business development activities may be wearing you out without significant ROI.

Either way, you’re not seeing the results you need to boost your billable hours and bottom line within the time you can spend on business development.

The first step is to take the first step toward building a plan that actually works.

The next steps are to define who your ideal clients and referral partners are, where they hang out, and what their pain points are.

The final steps are to analyze what services you’d like to market, what your strengths are, what you’re passionate about, how you’d like to be perceived, and what your time constraints are.

Once you’re clear on these things, you can figure out how to efficiently spend your time and energy on business development so that you have a consistent flow of business.

This is when the magic happens.🪄

Which step are you going to work on this week?

Warmest regards,

Jamie
