Now Is the Time to Get in The Driver’s Seat of Your Career
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 31st edition of Short & Sweet, a weekly newsletter where I provide brief tips for attorneys to build their brand and book of business, on and off of LinkedIn. Read until the end to see my LinkedIn tip of the week.
We put things off as IP attorneys.
The day-to-day takes precedence over investing in yourself.
You take a quick glance at that helpful newsletter, and decide to implement it later. But later never comes.
You attend that insightful business development webinar, but take no action.
You invest time and resources in a conference, but fail to do the critical follow ups.
You scroll through the LinkedIn feed and think "I should start doing what they're doing," but you don't know where to start, so you don't.
It's a cycle of doing what's easy; what's in front of you.
I hear it every single day from the lawyers I speak with.
They do the same thing over and over again and hope a consistent flow of business and opportunities will come.
No one else is going to care about your career as much as you. You need to step into the driver's seat, rather than letting life roll by out the window.
Are you brave enough to take the steps toward your goals? Of course you are. I know it.
Do you want to bring in more revenue this year?
Have a consistent flow of clients and referrals?
Have more visibility and opportunities in the industry?
Grow your firm?
Make partner?
It starts with you taking the first step and continuing with small consistent actions.
If you do, I guarantee things will change.
I help you figure out where to start and how you can reach your goals with consistent, strategic actions.
I keep you on track, along with the IP attorneys in my community.
Don't wait for it to be the right time because that time may never come, and your goals will be that much further down the road.
You still have time to achieve them this year.

LinkedIn Tip of The Week:
The hot topic in my world this week is email newsletters v. LinkedIn newsletters. Great reasons to have one on LinkedIn are (i) it lands in the inbox of each of your subscribers, (ii) you may reach a different audience than what you already have on your personal LinkedIn account, and (iii) your content will get picked up by internet searches. The downside is that you do not have the email addresses of your subscribers. My advice is to do both so you are continuing to build your own email list and you’re staying visible from every corner.
